The Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ) was created for wide Internet audience. STQ can be administered individually or in a group. Administration of the Extended version of STQ requires about 30 minutes. Administration of the Compact version of STQ requires between 10 and 20 minutes, with an average of 15 minutes. Administration of the Short version of STQ requires 8-10 minutes.
The Structure of Temperament approach, which is based on a long tradition of experimental studies of the types of nervous system, is complimentary to personality assessment methods. It provides a compact assessment tool and a detailed map to diagnose and to differentiate between stable temperamental traits related to consistent dynamical properties of a person's performance.
The Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ) demonstrated good validity, reliability, internal consistency and stable factor structure in many studies since 1989. STQ was adapted to several languages and several age groups. The initial STQ was presented by the Extended (STQ-150), Short (STQ-26) and Compact (STQ-77) versions.
STQ was standardized on a community-based sample of men and women, aged 15 to 75. The normative samples were collected separately for each developed cultural version of STQ; they included Americans, Australians and Canadians of mixed cultural background, Chinese, Canadian-Urdu, Russians, and Canadian-Polish individuals from a range of ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. The target population includes healthy individuals with good skills in the language of the version of STQ used.
